Base your Montana vacation in Big Sky

Big Sky is a great place to get the best out of Montana’s many activities, such as horseback riding, fishing, skiing and hiking, while enjoying terrific lodging and vacation rentals.
Surrounded by the Gallatin National Forest and the Spanish Peaks Primitive Area and protected by the magnificence of the 11,166 feet high Lone Mountain, Big Sky makes for a great vacation stop-over. The late newscaster, Chet Huntley along with some of his friends, invested in Big Sky in order to create a year-round resort catering to vacation tourists looking for the best in outdoor recreation.
Big Sky Ski and Summer Resort is a great attraction for skiers, snowmobilers, whitewater rafters, mountain bikers, anglers, and horseback riders. And nearby at the Lee Metcalf Spanish Peaks Wilderness, hikers find their own piece of heaven wandering on the many beautiful trails. Gondola rides during the summer months add a special flavor for visitors who want to take in the grandeur of the area.
When in Big Sky, take a moment to go to Soldier’s Chapel, where you will have an amazing view of Lone Mountain. The stone and log church was built in 1955 to commemorate World War II fighters and is visited by the locals of Gallatin Canyon as well as visitors to the area.
