Rafting the Blackfoot River: This is a classic river for rafting trips near Missoula, Montana. In late May and June, when the waters peak, the Blackfoot features big class II and III whitewater. Moving toward summer, the Blackfoot’s rocks poke their head up turning the river into a class II whitewater run. This is also a well-known trout fishing river, and was the river in the film A River Runs Through It.
Rafting the Bitterroot River: The Bitterrroot is a more mellow river, that offers great Montana fishing and the opportunity to see incredible wildlife, including deer, elk, moose and bears. It’s also great for bird watching, with eagles, hawks and mergansers present. The fly fishing here is also top-notch.
Rafting the Clark Fork River: The Clark Fork, with its famous Alberton Gorge, offers terrific class II, III and even powerful class IV rafting, with a powerful volume of water pushing through it, and plenty of exciting and challenging rapids. Also a great place for seeing Montana’s scenic beauty, wildlife, trout fishing and bird watching.
