Montana Maps: The Flathead Valley
Montana’s Flathead Valley contains some of the greatest outdoors vacation destinations in the state. It’s a great area for skiing, hiking, fly fishing, boating and much more.
On the above map, starting with the most southerly pinpoint, you’ll see Flathead Lake, one of the largest and most pristine bodies of water in the western U.S. Moving clockwise, you’ll find Blacktail Mountain ski resort, a small but terrific resort.
Continuing almost due north, you’ll find the towns of Kalispell, Columbia Falls and Whitefish, Montana. All great places for Montana hotels and lodging, shopping and great restaurants.
Continuing north from Whitefish, you’ll find Whitefish Mountain Resort, a world-class big mountain ski resort that also offers excellent mountain biking in the summer. Continuing clockwise, you’ll end up at the West Glacier entrance to Glacier National Park. From here you can access some of Glacier’s best, including Lake McDonald, Logan Pass and the Highline Trail.
To the south of Glacier is the Bob Marshall Wilderness, another fantastic Montana outdoor adventure area, great for hiking, backpacking, hunting and horseback riding.
