Montana’s Dino Trail

Take the Montana Dinosaur Trail to ignite the natural geological and paleontological adventurer in you! This rich trail system runs through fifteen areas that are dotted along eastern Montana through to the Rocky Mountain Front near the famed Glacier National Park.

Here you will find a scientific multi-media paradise where you will learn about the region through museum exhibits, field station venues, and dinosaur digs. Hang out at the Museum of the Rockies to see dinosaur fossils that comprise the largest exhibit in the United States. Take yourself to the Malta Field Station to see the world’s most in-tact dinosaur and then to the Fort Peck Interpretive Center to take a gander at “Peck’s Rex,” one of the most complete skeletons of a Tyrannosaurus Rex on the planet. And don’t forget to take time at the Upper Musselshell Museum in Harlowton where you can ogle over “Ava,” a full scale replica of an Avaceratops that once roamed the area!

Brilliant paleontological displays and vastly interesting dinosaur skeleton replicas provide you with a visceral sense of what the region looked like all those eons ago. Take out your camera and shoot all you can… you’ll want to bring back some of Montana’s paleontological highlights to your family and friends back home.
